Individual therapy is a process by which a therapist and client work one on one to explore thoughts, feelings, or behaviors that are causing a disruption in the client’s life. These tend to be maladaptive in some way. The therapist may use different treatment modalities to best address areas of concern. Some of these can include, but is not limited to, talk therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
